FAQ

I just completed the training I need, but this report hasn’t updated.

Please log out of your MyTCOLE account and log back in for a refreshed compliance report. Unless the course was taken through TCOLE’s online training site, the course can take up to 30 days to report to your record. If you have allowed time for the course to be reported and still feel there is an error with your report, you should contact the training provider who taught the course to ensure that it was reported correctly.

Do I have to be appointed to keep my license active?

You do not have to be appointed with an agency to maintain an active license. As long as you continue to meet TCOLE unit and cycle training requirements, your license(s) will stay active, even if you are not appointed.

I am not appointed with an agency right now. If I am not going to return to work under my license, do I still have to do the training?

You do not have to be appointed with an agency to maintain an active license. As long as you continue to meet TCOLE unit and cycle training requirements, your license(s) will stay active, even if you are not appointed. If you are unappointed, you are not required by law to complete the training by the 08/31/2025 deadline. However, if you do not do so, your license will go inactive. You should read about the process for reactivation so that you can make an informed decision.

What do I do if my Personal Status Report (PSR) is missing classes that I recently completed?

Keep in mind that the provider of your training has 30 days to submit the roster. If after 30 days the training has not been reported to your record and the training was taken through a TCOLE training provider, please contact the provider to verify the information that they reported for that class. If the course was taken through TCOLE’s online training, please contact support@tcole.texas.gov or 512-936-7700, press 3, then 1. If you took the course through a non-TCOLE provider, please contact your department’s training coordinator for guidance.

I think TCOLE’s records are wrong. Who can I talk to about that?

If you believe that our current records are in error, you can contact TCOLE Credentialing staff at 512-936-7700, press 4, then 1.

What if I do not complete the training by 08/31/2025?

If you are currently appointed and fail to complete the required training, TCOLE will begin action to suspend your license(s) for at least ninety (90) days. If you have a prior suspension or reprimand for training noncompliance, your license could be suspended for 180 days. License suspension will prevent you from continuing to serve for your agency until the suspension is completed and your license is reinstated. By rule, a third incidence of training noncompliance requires license revocation. Revoked licenses can never be reinstated.

What if I do not want this license anymore?

If you do not want to maintain the training requirements of a particular license, you should have your agency submit an F5 for that license. YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ACT UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THAT LICENSE. That license will then go inactive on 09/01/2025 and you would have to complete the reactivation process if you ever wished to use that license again.
